How to make a QR code menu in 3 steps
Take a photo or upload the PDF
Use the menu you already have: up to 4 phone photos, one per page, or the PDF. No typing needed.
The AI turns it into a digital menu
It reads the sections, dishes, descriptions and prices and lays them out as a clear menu for phones. You review it and fix anything before publishing.
Publish it and print the QR code
Tell us your email and we send you the link to your menu, your private link to edit it and a PDF with QR cards for the tables. Guests scan and see the menu straight away.
Why switch to a digital QR menu
No app, no downloads
Any phone opens the menu with its camera. Nothing to install, for you or for your guests.
Easier to read than paper
Clear, well-ordered text on the phone screen, with no stained menus or blurry photocopies.
Done in a minute
No templates, no layout work: the AI transcribes the menu for you. You just check it.
Actually free
No sign-up, no card. We only ask for an email to send you the link and the QR code of your menu.
Change a price without reprinting
Edit the menu from your private link and the change is live at once. The QR code on the tables stays the same.
Print-ready QR cards
An A4 PDF with eight "Scan to see the menu" cards for the tables, or one large QR code for the window.
What data it uses
- The photos or PDF of your menu are not stored: they are processed and deleted as soon as reading finishes, within seconds. To read it, we send a downscaled copy of each page, without metadata, to an AI provider: Anthropic (Claude) or, if it is unavailable, Google (Gemini).
- We keep the menu text extracted from them (sections, dishes, descriptions, prices and allergens). If you do not publish it, it is deleted 72 hours after the last change. A published menu stays until you delete it from your edit link, or until 12 months pass with no visits and no edits. So we can resend your links if you lose them, we keep your edit key encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key held outside the database.
- Your email is used to send you the link to your menu, your edit link and the QR PDF and, over one week, two emails with tips about the tool; RDS news only if you accept it and confirm from the email. No cookies, no account. To limit abuse, your IP address is kept only as an encrypted fingerprint (hash), for 48 hours.
QR code menu: frequently asked questions
Is the QR code menu really free?
Yes. The digital menu, its link and the QR code cost nothing, and you do not need to sign up or give a card. We only ask for an email to send you the link and the QR code. It is made by the team behind RDS, a digital signage platform.
What is a QR code menu and how does it work in a restaurant?
It is your restaurant menu published as a web page. You put a QR code on every table; guests scan it with their phone camera and the menu opens in the browser, with no app to install.
What do I need to create my digital menu?
Just your current menu: a phone photo of each page, or the PDF. The AI reads the sections, dishes, descriptions and prices.
What if the AI gets a dish or a price wrong?
Before publishing you see the menu exactly as guests will, and you can correct any dish, description or price. Always check it: a blurry photo, glare or handwriting can confuse the AI.
Can I change the menu or the prices later?
Yes. We email you a private link to edit it: change a dish or a price, save, and the menu updates at once, with the same QR code. Nothing to reprint.
What files can I upload?
JPG, PNG or WebP photos (up to 4, one per page) or one PDF, up to 8 MB per file. The first 4 pages of a PDF are read.
How long does my menu stay online?
As long as you use it. A published menu stays until you delete it from your edit link, or until 12 months pass with no visits and no edits. A draft you never publish is deleted after 72 hours.
What do you do with the photos of my menu?
They are sent to an AI provider (Anthropic or, if it is unavailable, Google) only to read the menu, and deleted as soon as the text has been extracted. What we keep is the menu as text.
Can I print the QR code for the tables?
Yes. You download it as a print-ready image for stickers, table stands or your paper menu.
Can guests order from the table with this menu?
The free QR menu is for browsing. For ordering from the phone, with orders arriving on a kitchen screen, there is Digital Menu, the RDS add-on for restaurants.
